If you thought Indominus Rex or Spinosaurus gave our beloved Tyrannosaurus Rex a hard time, wait until you get a look at Giganotosaurus - the latest super predator Dinosaur to be introduced to Jurassic lore!
As part of the prologue sequence for Jurassic World Dominion, fans were given a glimpse at prehistoric life, 65 million years ago during the Cretaceous period - a time when Tyrannosaurus Rex and Giganotosaurus actually co-existed. In the prologue we see a lethal interaction between these two Apex predatory Dinosaurs and once again, unfortunately, T-Rex failed to win the day.
Throughout Jurassic Park and Jurassic World, the T-Rex has had to defend its place as King/Queen of Jurassic lore - a fan favorite and one of the most well-known Dinosaurs ever discovered. But unlike the debatable loss to Spinosaurus (in which case one could argue the bite force of Spinosaurus would not be enough to trap, let alone control the might of a T-Rex), Giganotosaurus had some serious potential for being a T-Rex killer.
Giganotosaurus was a massive Carnivore - measuring at between 44 and 46 feet long, this Dinosaur had an estimated bite force of about 8,000 lbs.
By comparison, Tyrannosaurus Rex measured in at 40 feet long, nearly 10 feet shorter than Giganotosaurus. However, due to Tyrannosaurus' unique skull structure, it's estimated that the Tyrant King could produce a bite force of nearly 12,000lbs! That's 4,000lbs more force than Giganotosaurus!
So, it's clear Tyrannosaurus was far from an easy target for Giganotosaurus, it really boils down to one factor: Who Bites First.
Given the stats mentioned above, Giganotosaurus had a size advantage over T-Rex, but if Rexy managed to clamp those deadly jaws around Giganotosaurus' neck first - size wouldn't really matter much at that point.
Unfortunately though, Rexy's ancestor met her demise at the jaws of Giganotosaurus in the Jurassic World Dominion prologue, but perhaps this footage was a set up for yet another, one final reclamation of her crown in the actual film! That is, of course, if InGen cloned a Giganotosaurus as well and it wasn't exclusive to the prologue...
